JUST POST THE URL ALREADY!!!

What the heck is this awful trend I've been seeing on Facebook from mid-to-late 2016 to early 2017? You know, the one where people post "Instagram: @ThisIsMyName". I'm like, dude, just post the whole URL, not some @ crap that I have to copy and paste elsewhere -- or right-click to sent it to Google -- or whatever. I'd rather not do all of that when all I'd have to do is simply left-click once. Many times, they don't even type Instagram or whatever the site is they want you to go to! Do they think that this is cute or something? A lot of these people are trying to sell something too. They are going to lose many sales (they never will know they'd have) trying to be cute 'n trendy. There are model pages on Facebook where they post pictures of other models, but then they do that "@ThisIsHerName" crap in the caption. I'm like jeez, could you please put an actual URL there? This isn't lie the old Yahoo Messenger days. I remember how is was more complicated. You'd have to bring up a link window, put the actual URL in it's own slot, then name it what ever you wanted the person to click on, like "Hey,Click this Link", and if you didn't want to do all of that, you had to just post"www.ThisIsTheSiteIWasTellingYouAbout.com" in the general pm screen, which would lead to people then saying "... Hey I clicked it but it didn't do anything.", which would lead to you saying "Yeah, I know. Just copy and paste it into an URL slot." Anyways, the point I'm trying to make here is that we don't have the same complications that we had in 2001. Now you can easily, and automatically post links on Facebook and many other places on the internet. Why people think it's cool just to do that "@ThisIsMySite" stuff, is well beyond my understanding... I don't know, it just bugs me. This is 2017, not 1997. If you owned Burger King, wouldn't you go through the extra keystrokes of typing instagram.com/burgerking, instead of Instagram:@burgerking? Especially if you are trying to sell something?
UPDATE (3/5/2017): Now I see a picture posted on facebook with a caption which reads something to the effect of "You know how to find her." I'm like, wow what the heck? Lazy much? Or are you just the super-duper-omega coolest of the cool?
